The terms this website and the Notespice software are offered on.

What this site is

This website describes Notespice, a notes application you can download and run on your own hardware. The site is information only. There is nothing to buy here, no account to create and no service being sold.

The software

Notespice is free software published under version 3 of the GNU General Public Licence. That licence is the agreement that governs your use of the software. It permits you to use, copy, change and redistribute it, on the condition that anything you pass on is offered on the same terms and with its source. It also states that the software comes with no warranty of any kind.

Releases up to and including 1.8.24 were published under the MIT licence. That grant cannot be withdrawn, so those versions stay available on those terms.

You run Notespice on your own machine, and you are responsible for that machine: for keeping it patched, for the password you set, for who can reach it over the network, and for backing up your notes. We do not host it, cannot see it and cannot recover anything from it.

Limits of liability

The information on this site is provided in good faith and kept accurate as best we can, but it is provided without warranty. To the extent the law allows, Lightmorphic Ltd is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of this site or of the software, including lost or corrupted notes. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Where this site links elsewhere, such as to GitHub, those sites have their own terms and we are not responsible for their content.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
